Kerala

Situated between the Arabian Sea on the west and Western Ghats on the east, is a narrow strip of land, Kerala, a dream vacation. The palm laced beaches of Varkala and Kovalam, the Munnar tea gardens, the backwaters of Kuttanad and kumarakom and the mysterious woods and forests of Thekkady and the amazing valleys are a life time experience.

Major attractions of Kerala

Beaches
On the western coast and by the Arabian Sea is Kerala's long coastline of around 580 km., which is lined with sandy beaches. Kovalam beach near Thiruvananthapuram attracts tourist the most. The popular beaches of Kerala are the Nattika beach, Alappuzha Beach, Vadanappilly beach,  Kappad, Fort Kochi, Marari beach and Varkala.

Backwaters
The backwaters of Kerala are a line of lakes and brackish lagoons which lie parallel to the Arabian Sea coast, which is also known as the Malabar Coast. The houseboat rides in the backwaters provide a major tourist attraction. Alappuzha, Kollam and Kumarakom are famous for backwater tourism. The boat races which are held during festival seasons attract tourists from all regions.

Hill Stations

In the East of Kerala the land is encroached upon by the Western Ghats, therefore the region includes wide deep valleys, high mountains and dangerous gorges. Most of the lands are covered with thick dense forest while various regions are under the tea and coffee plantations or cultivation of food and other crops. Wayanad, MunnarVagamonPeermadeNelliyampathi and Ponmudi are some of the popular hill stations.
