Pune Airport and Railway Station


Pune is a Historical, cultural and Educational hub with a slice of Technology and Modern life. Pune city is the second largest in Maharashtra and it has a well developed industrial area and an estimated 50 lacs population. Pune has many historical places and also beautiful parks and gardens, shopping centres and historical Forts to visit. It has become one of the most attractive point for tourist in Maharashtra.

Pune Airport is at a distance of 10 km from the northeast of the city. This Airport is controlled and managed by Airports Authority of India. Pune Airport's runway is shared with the Lohegaon Air Base. Previously Pune airport used to serve only domestic flights, now recently it has started handling flights to International destinations. There are various hotels near Pune Airport. The Airport in Pune is connected to the major cities in India like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Nagpur, Chennai etc.

Pune Railway Station
Pune railway station is the major railway head of Pune. This railway junction is on the Mumbai - Chennai railway line. All trains running here are operated by the Indian Railways. It serves as a halt for southern bound trains from Gujarat, MumbaiMadhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Pune is attached to the country by this station. There are many hotels near Pune railway station for the convenience of the tourists.

Koregaon Park

Koregaon Park is situated in Pune, south to Mula-Mutha River. This area is known as the most posh area in the city of Pune. This area is basically a residential area with lush green scenery but recently there has been a spurt of commercial market. Koregaon Park is the among the most expensive real estate destinations in Pune. After the arrival of Osho Ashram it has become a hub of foreign travellers. It is a prime location for commercial establishments and retail outlets. One of Pune's primary IT hub, Kalyani Nagar is near Koregaon Park. Since commercial business has been setup here, for the convenience of travellers there are many hotels near Koregaon Park.

Pune's Journal

Pune is well known as the 'Oxford of the East' and also labelled as the cultural capital of Maharashtra. It is the eighth largest metropolis in India. Pune is located in the western part of India, 170 km east from the commercial city of Mumbai. Pune has grown in manifolds over the past. The local language of Pune is Marathi. Pune is basically a corporate stopover but it also has its mix of culture and history. Pune's architecture is a potpourri of modern interlaced with the old. All this makes for an interesting sight-seeing. 
Pune is a cosmopolitan city and it is an important place for commercial and educational purposes. Some of the prominent places of Pune are given below:
  • Shivaji Nagar- Shivaji Nagar is an important area situated in the heart of the city. The Pune Municipal Corporation, district court, various important colleges are located in this area. There are various hotels near Shivaji Nagar. Resorts like the Ashish Plaza and Pride Hotel are located in this area. The bus stand of Shivaji Nagar is the connecting link to places in Maharashtra state.   • Camp- This place is known as Central Pune. Pune's largest and greenest patch, the Bund Garden lies in the center of this area. There are many hotels near Pune Camp.

  • Kalyani Nagar- This area is sitated in the eastern region of Pune. It was named after Neelkanth Kalyani, one of the city's arch industrialists. It is basically a residential area, that the coming years has seen emergence of many shopping malls. new buildings and IT parks. There are many hotels in Kalyani Nagar.    
  • Lohegaon- It is a suburb of Pune. One of the oldest air base in India, known as 2 wing is in this area. Hence a lot of ex-servicemen reside in Lohegaon. This place is famous for the Pune International Airport.    
  • Baner- Baner is located in the western region of Pune. It is the fastest developing suburb in the city. Baner  mainly has residential and commercial areas and larger portions of this area are occupied by the various IT companies. 
  • Hadapsar- Hadapsar is located in the eastern part of Pune. Many IT and BPO companies are coming up in this area. It is linked to the main city by Pne-Solapur Highway. Many tourists flock this place because as it is famous for its paragliding adventures.
  • Pashan- Pashan is located in the western region of Pune. As it is surrounded by hills, the climate here is very pleasant and beautiful. The Pashan lake adds to the beauty of this place. Most people choose to stay in this area on account of it being a calm, quiet and pleasant area.  
  • Magarpatta City- It is the largest IT park. This area is 7 kms from the Pune railway railway station and just 5 kms from the main city's business centre. This place is lush green and pollution free and therefore many people prefer this place for residing.   
  • Pimpri Chinchwad is situated on the outskirts of the city. It is around 18 KM from Pune railway station.  Pimpri and Chinchwad are the two twin towns which are together called Pimpri-Chinchwad. Hinjewadi (IT hub of Pune) and Talawade (forthcoming IT hub of Pune) are located in this place. Many IITians opt to stay in this area.
